Rent a studio

Over 80 artists work behind these brick walls: painters, printmakers, jewelers, sculptors. When a studio opens up, it goes to whoever’s next and right for the space. Tell us what you make.

The California Building

Six floors of working studios above Mojo Coffee Gallery, anchoring the corner of California Street since 1991. Brick walls, big windows, and one of the longest-running artist communities in the district.

The studios

Studios from intimate single rooms to large working floors, numbered 101 through the 600s. Painters, printmakers, jewelers, sculptors, conservators, and working businesses share the halls.

The neighborhood

The heart of the Northeast Minneapolis Arts District, steps from the Casket Arts campus (same owners, same care) and a short walk to the river. First Thursdays and Art-A-Whirl® fill the block.

What comes with it: 24/7 building access, freight elevator, a community of working artists, First Thursday open studios with real foot traffic, and a public listing in the artist directory.
